Ella Luckett, E-RYT500 is a Yoga Alliance certified yoga instructor with 16 years of professional teaching experience and over 1,000 hours of advanced training. Ella is certified in three different vinyasa styles of yoga. Ella obtained her first certification  in Ashtanga with Larry Shultz at "It's Yoga" of San Francisco (2001). She then went on to complete 300 hours certification in Jivamukti Yoga with world renowned founders Sharon Gannon and David Life, and recently reached 800 hours of certification training with Shiva Rae in Prana Yoga and Trance dance.

Ella has been a long time member of the Yoga Society of NY at Ananda Ashram in New York, where she first learned vedantic meditation and yoga philosophy from her beloved teacher Joan Suval.  Since then she has also explored many other styles including Mantra meditation with Gadahara Pandit (Urban Monk), Buddhist Meditation with Kadam Morton at the Kadampa center, and Vedic Meditation under Charlie and Thom Knoles. Ella also obtained a certification in Positive Psychology. Ella is deeply grateful to all of her teachers over the years. Each one has given her a new perspective, practice and access to peace and vitality.

Ella has been teaching yoga full time since 2000 in both San Francisco and New York. During her freelance years she has taught in dozens of gyms, studios and privately in homes and she taught all ages from kids to seniors, from all walks of life.

In 2011 Ella opened her yoga studio Jai Yoga Arts in the artsy neighborhood of Bushwick, Brooklyn, NY. There the student body is mostly people in their 20's and 30's who are coming into their own as artists, professionals and members of society. She enjoys seeing them become empowered to make life affirming changes, using yoga as a supportive practice to increase their awareness, compassion, strength and courage.

Ella began teaching YA certified Teacher Training programs in 2008, and has since certified people from all over the world, having led programs in Thailand, Costa Rica, Nicaragua and the US. There is currently a Jai certified teacher on every continent in the world! (except Antarctica). What Ella loves most about teaching the YTT's is seeing the community of like minded individuals make lifetime friendships and grow both as teachers as well as personally.

Teaching Style:

Ella creates a warm and sacred atmosphere in her classes and trainings. With an intellectual approach to the philosophy, and dynamic, breath centered flow sequencing, Ella’s classes are the perfect mix to promote self transformation and growth.

Jai Yoga is a vinyasa yoga practice influenced by Ashtanga, JivaMukti, and Prana Vinyasa. The class emphasises the use of Ujjai breath, and meditative mind for a powerful physical practice and deeply restorative experience. Each class contains a brief dharma discussion, Ohm, and optional chanting,  sun salutes, and asanas paired with a dynamic flow of vinyasa. The classes move at a medium pace from one pose to the next without a lot of talk time between postures. The emphasis is on a holistic and blissful experience of the mind heart and body.
